“I’ve been using your Middle School Discipline and Suspension programs for years. What a positive approach
you have developed to changing behavior! As the disciplinarian for our middle and elementary schools, you’ve made my job easier by encouraging communication with students, parents and staff. I could easily be your New England sales rep. A+ for Advantage Press!”
Assistant Principal, Burr District Elementary School
Higganum, CT

“As a principal, I have used your Behavior Learning Packets with much success at both a middle school and
an elementary school. When students are referred to me for detention, there needs to be some type of lesson regarding the student’s wrongdoing. Your behavior packets are very effective in that they help students to understand their mistakes and what they can do to prevent them from happening again. Also the packets provide documentation, the type of documentation that demonstrates what has been tried to improve the student’s behavior.”

“I purchased the Classroom Management Toolkit and have found it to be a great tool to use with our growing population of challenging high school students. The format is excellent and we have seen many positive results.”

“We at Bedford High School are beginning our second year using the behavior packets and are pleased to inform you that we feel they have been very useful! They are helping students face and deal with the discipline problems that are causing them to be given detentions or suspensions.”

“Our school has been stronger and more consistent in the area of discipline since we began using the Behavior Improvement Packets from Advantage Press. With the use of these programs, all students were treated equally, the students were aware of the consequences of their actions, and they saw the exercise not so much as a punitive measure but as a remedial one. With few exceptions students needed only one or two packets. We even had parents come to the office requesting a packet to take home to be used for something that had happened at home. When this began to happen, we realized that the Behavior Improvement Packets were also a very valuable public relations tool.”
Principal, Arnold H. McLeod School

“With the Suspension and Detention Learning Programs by The Advantage Press, the student reads a scenario about students who have exhibited similar behavior and is questioned about the scenario and similarities between the scenario and his/her situation. The student is asked to choose the required behavior and set goals for the future. It shows students that others have experienced similar problems and have coped. Students should exit punishment or discipline situations as better people….without feeling they are eternally bad individuals.”
Principal, Hermann Middle School
Hermann, MO.

“All of the categories of inappropriate student behavior are comprehensively covered in the programs and the approach to providing the student with a learned alternative to the behavior has proven to be most effective. Student recidivism is at a minimum.”

“Let’s say a student starts a fight with another student. He must complete a packet specifically related to this problem. The first section describes two or three situations involving students who fight in school. It also describes why fights occur–and their consequences, like how the image of a student suffers when he has a reputation as a fighter. The second section of the Advantage Press packet asks the student to complete questions like, “What caused the problem? Why is fighting immature–and what could I have done to avoid it”? If a student has been excessively tardy, disrespectful, or unprepared for class, he or she is also given a packet writing assignment by the teacher.

Students assigned packets complete them at home or in our in-school suspension room. Generally, the questions require the student to write about 800 words. The packets make the discipline process a positive experience rather than a negative one because it forces kids to analyze their behavior and focus on ways to improve it. As a result, the kids who complete them are rarely repeat offenders!”

“One of my responsibilities as an Assistant Principal in a suburban Catholic elementary school is discipline. I believe in formative, reflective assignments for the students I see in my capacity as disciplinarian. My principal gave me the behavior improvement packets you had developed for second grade. I have found them to be very useful!”
Assistant Principal, St. Theresa School

“When I was an elementary principal, I utilized the lessons from an earlier copyright of your elementary discipline programs. I thought the lessons were perfect for students to learn about school rules, why they are in effect and how to function as a productive member of the learning community. They assisted me with managing students rather than just disciplining students! Missing recess or serving a detention, in and of itself, was not working as a way to teach proper behavior. Now I serve as a coordinator of elementary student teachers. The biggest hurdle beginning teachers face is classroom management. This is a ready to use resource that is very effective and easy to use.”

“My teaching partner and I use your behavior packets all the time during our classes at Wawona Middle School. We are excited about the changes that it makes in our students’ behaviors. Whenever we give presentations locally or on the state level we promote your behavior packets and go so far as to pass out information and order forms for them.”

“I am writing this letter to thank you for the Advantage Press Suspension Program. It has been a tremendous help in working with middle and high school students who have been assigned to In-School-Suspension.”

“During the previous school year I began to utilize your detention and suspension packets at the high school level. Initial data reveals that as a result of students working your packets, suspensions were reduced in three of our targeted areas.”
